Welcome to my website
Throughout my time reporting from the sun-cooked farms of Texas, the frostbitten streets of Chicago and the dingy courthouses and late-night crime scenes of New York, I’ve been laser-focused on becoming the best journalist I can be. The pursuit has led me to more places than I could have imagined. I’ve yelled questions at murder suspects as they were ushered into police cars. I've spoken to a hotdog-filled Joey Chestnut after a historic win. I've traveled to a U.S.-Mexico border in crisis. I've sprinted to catch Eric Adams, Lori Lightfoot and more.
Through it all, I’ve sought to develop skills essential to strong reporting. I’ve learned how to craft strong nut graphs, pointed questions and punchy kicker quotes. I’ve also absorbed the often overlooked tips and tricks of the trade. I know how long to wait for a reply before knocking again on a subject’s door, the science of shouting a question in an impromptu gaggle and that the best stories are often written from a parked car. I’ve also found engaging stories, often out of assignments budgeted for much less. For instance, I learned that neighborhood gardens in Chicago can mean much more than fresh vegetables; that some are willing to take bullets for complete strangers; that hope for struggling communities can be found in the most unexpected of places and that nothing will prevent a mother from doing right by her son.
These pieces remind me that there are always deeper, more inspiring stories waiting to be found. I’m determined to dig deeper to find them. I’m currently looking for new reporting roles and am eager to jump on any assignment, no matter how big or small. Thank you for visiting my website. It’s great to have you here.
